Mixed Media fun with elephants

Hello and welcome!

I have to tell you I am WAY behind my "do some wonderful art time-Schedule" because the weekend to weeks ago we were away at the mountain skiing, And then monday my litle sweetie get sick (this stumic thing we Norwegians called omgangssyke) and then me and my husband get sick.... you know - the hole week in bed or sofa doing nothing. So last weekend my brother and my father and stepmother came visiting to celebrate litle Amalie three-years day. And  now, this days we renovated kitchen and living room.... ☺and Saturday (tomorrow) we get visitors again...

But today I had to have some quality time in my studio! And I want to show you something I've never done before. I was inspired my the loveley and talented Marta Lapkowska and do some Mixed Media, Scrapbooking, yeh!

I find some Scrappaper laying around in my studio. I think this sheet was very sweet with elephants and the fine sugar color. I started with some white gesso, then some Modeling paste trought a stencil just to get some texture.

I've used my heat tool to to get it all dry and then I took Dylusions Ink sprays in colour Bublegum pink and yellow and spritz ligtly over the modeling paste.

as you can see I've also used Vibrant Turquise Dylusions Ink spray to the piece

I  tore apart some other Design Paper, punching holes, hearts, flowers and stars using my punshers and my husband's hole punch.

I've used a stapler to gather all and then use my glue gun to glue it down.

Then I find my stash such as flowers beads, ribbons, cloth, etc.

I also had some lace curtain fabric lying around which I cut up and colored with light green fabric color

Then I stamped the elephant on a white cardstock and the thread stamp around the edges. I used another stamp to get stitches above the thread.

I stamped the phrase "An elephant never forget" on a napkin I've been decorated earlier then glue it on a white cardstock.

The rest of the phrases I just stamped on white cardstock with pink and silver ink, and cut it out with my scissors

Then I glue it all down on my scrappaper with my heat glue tool and glue pads.

Here is some close ups for details

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial. I really had a good time making this. Not only it was very cozy to make, I even got to use a little of everything of my stash that has been laying around, and some recycling.

All the stamps I've used comes from the online store Rubber Dance Stamps, except the stitch stamp and the sentence "Thank you".

I want to thank Marta Lapkowska for giving me so much inspiration ♥
Next time I will show you my studio/Craft room and a wonderful piece of art using Magicals among other  - also inspired by Marta ☺

I joining the fun over at Creative Carte Blanche which has a challenge this month called "Try Something Artistic You've Never Done Before!" (after a tip from lovely Marjie Kemper ☺Thank you Marjie! ♥)

Hope to see you again! Thank you for visiting.

Topsy Turvy canvas

Hello and welcome

I hope you are feeling fine. I am in the mood for something Topsy Turvy today☺ And just because of that I am join in on the Challenge over at Our Creative Corner - which is exactly Topsy Turvy theme.

Today I want to show you this upsidedown canvas I made.

This was really fun. I began to tear various papers into pieces and pasting them on the canvas a litle here and there.

As you can see the canvas is a little bit pink. That's because it is a used canvas that I was not happy with and painted over. So obviously something shining pink through, but it does not do any thing.

Some of the paper I used is actually answers from exam in tax law at the University of Bergen - upsidedown. How cool isent that!☺ The exam are handwritten and the paper are lined so I think they are very fine and can be advantageously used in mixed media art . I've used Matte gel medium to glue the pieces on the canvas and then dried with heat gun.

For the colur I've used Pan Pastel. They are just georgeus!  I have not used them before so I was a little excited about how it was to work with. I loooove them, though!

I though I need a little black so I grab the beautiful Heart from Rubber Dance Arty Hearty and stamp some here and there. I also used a stamp from Pick a number to get some circles, for as you know circles is the shape that appeals to most people. It is researched that circles provides peace and tie together so it suits this piece where everything stands on its head ☺

I used white poscapenn for some splatter, and my paint brush to paint a purple frame in non-perfect shape. That's because in a world where everything is upside down (except your heart) nothing is perfect.

And for that I really would renew me today I've used one of these great chipboards from EyeConnectCraft - the broken heart.

I painted it with gesso first since it is brown basically.

Then I painted it with Purple Dylusions paint and scattered purple glitter on it. I took eyelets in each hole and threaded silver wire through so that the heart was connected. Then glue it with a little glue on each side og the heart on the canvas so it's just stand out of the canvas.

And voila - here it is!

I hope I inspired you to go on with the art, and that in your life sometime the world must be upside down just to get on the right track again ☺

All the stamps i've been used is from Rubber Dance and the lovely chipboard heart is from EyeConnectCraft.

An illustrative Art journal page - the story of my life

Helo and welcome

Today is the day I'm going to tell you my dearest followers and friends whats up. I think there has been enough secrets now and I like to be honest.

I've been a little off and on at my blog now recently and it is because I have been (and is) very ill. Some days are worse than others and then I have to rest and not do anything at all, just lay down in a quiet and dark room.

I'm under examination and have been to many neurologists, now, Wednesday this week I was in the capital with a neurologist. I've always had a thought about which disease who have set up camp with me but I have not until now been the ascertainable from a neurologist that I suffer from M.E. - Myalgic Encephalomyelitis.
I have been referred to the very best specialists in this area in Norway; Haukeland Hospital in my hometown, where  I will get a proper assessment during the spring / summer 2016. As you probably understand by the long wait is very long queue to get to the assessment on the hospital. So I have to be patient and just rest as much as I can - and of course do some art. Art is therapy for me so when I feel a little better and is able to sit upright in a bright room I do crafting.

So, my dear friends this is my life story. And just to illustrate how I am feeling right now I made this Art Journal Page. I think it's speaks for it's self.....

I would greatly appreciate a note from you. Maybe you want to put words in my picture, or just say helo?

Big hugs, Niti/Anita

Four seasons, four techniques - four canvas

Helo and welcome
This post I had in Norwegian at the Scandinavian Rubber Dance blog September 6., and to the extent that my English speaking readers want to read about the four techniques I have used, I just post it here for you as well.

I started with four small stretched canvas size 10 cm x 10 cm. Prepared with the Gesso - except the one that I should use Pan Pastel on.

Canvas 1 - Spring - dare to - this is the hope season - heart means hope, love - Dare to ......
Here I used color combination from May, which was yellow, pink and purple. Used Embossing stamp and stamped the background and colored into this with Pan Pastel colors in purple, pink and yellow. Then I stamped the heart on a tissue paper, tore around it and glued it on the canvas with Mod Podge. The same I did with the sentence; Dare to.

Canvas 2 - Summer - Believe - summer, we can believe in everything - it's summer, there is sun, there is bright evenings. Here I stamped the cute little butterflies around on a page of an old book I had lying around. Clip looked routes and glued them on the canvas with modge Podge. Then I stamped the flower with Archival ink on paper, cut out the flower and leaves separately and colored leaves green with Distress Ink and flower with pink Distress ink color. When this was dry I painted Glimmer Structur Ice with a small brush on both the flower and the leaves - then they got a very nice, shiny polished look. I decided to bring a yellow butterfly and also did  the same steps with the butterflies like the flower.

Meanwhile canvas dried and I could apply some washed gesso over the entire canvas. Washed gesso = gesso mixed with water so that it becomes a lean mixture. Took a bubble-stencil and modeling paste and applied a little down and the right edge of the canvas. This is to get some volume in the image. This I let dry long before I took up my gelatos and dyed canvas to August colors were pink, yellow and green. After this was dry, I  stamped the word Belive right up on the canvas. Flower and butterfly were glued on with such a small adhesive pad. In addition, I made two small feelers on the butterfly with brass wire and glued them on with Instant glue. I also used black and white Posca pen to create some effect on the image.

Canvas 3 - Autumn - Dream - then we can dream about the summer that was or coming spring. Autumn is the dream season. Here used color combination for September which was mustard, red and dark orange. I began by pasting on a design sheets in a light brown color with modge Podge. Then sealed everything with modge Podge and let this dry. I used the heat gun to dry it. So I used a technique which is called Peeled Paint. Spent some Vaseline patchy around and painted so with the dark red acrylic paint. Dried thoroughly with my heat gun, took a wet wipe and dried over canvas - gently. So I took more Vaseline around and painted with the dark orange color. Dried and washed off with wet wipe. You can do this as many times as you like, but I stopped there because I would only use colors for september. Stamped word dream (from kit "Affirmations"), crown deer and some cones on the canvas with Archival ink.

A little tip if you use paper design in a thick  version - it becomes more manageable if you spray some water on it and then roll it back and forth with your hands. You preparing the fibers so the paper become more manageable to work With.

Canvas 4 - winter - Wish - you may wish that it will soon be Christmas, you may want something special for Christmas, or you may wish it was summer.....
Here I used the technique of newsprint. Tore out a page in Bergens Tidende (my local newspaper) and leave it on my workbench. Swabbed on gesso throughout. Dried properly and then I sprayed with Dylusions Ink Spray, with colors for December as was pink, purple and turquoise. Showered some water over and rolled over with a paper towel roll and dried with heat gun. It was absolutely beautiful colors - as you can see on the Picture below.

I tore off a suitable bit so I got with all the colors and glued the piece on the canvas with modge Podge. Dried. Stamped the word Wish and some snow crystals with Distress Ink in color Stormy Sky. Secondly, I painted snowpaint (when it dries it looks like snow). And so I stamped snowman on. As you can see was not the totally perfect, but it does not matter because I have made a snowman from before that I should just paste on top. Thus, the Stamped snowman just a shadow of himself ... :-)
I took my black Distress marker and drew up the arms of the snowman, so they appear a little better. Then I glued the snowman with double sided tape.
The snowman I have stamped on one side of an old book. Dyed with two-tone turquoise in Distress Ink and the hat in a purple color, the carrot I dyed with orange Stampers Big Brush Pen and so I cut it out. I think the snowman is absolutely beautiful.

This was my interpretation of the four seasons, four color combinations and four techniques. I hope you enjoyed my small canvas and  that I gave inspiration. Below is a small selection closeup of some details.

If you have any questions please write questions in the comments below and I'll be glad to respond to you.

My art on canvas - Everything is possible and Good things are going to happen

Hi
it's so good to see that you came and visit me. I hope you are doing fine.

I've had so much fun this days by making these canvases, The first one I called 'Everything is possible'. I started With gesso all over the canvas (30 * 40 cm), then I had som washi tape in the midle. I used some gesso Wash all over and then I draw the Girls face and took my Creons and draw some circles. And a stencil for some pattern. If you take a look at my post of yesterday you can see how it looks like. You can find the post by cliking here

If you want a tutorial - step by step please let me know and a will post a step by step with picture for you..... Maybe I should try to make a live tutorial? Would that be interesting? Please let me know, okey?

What do you think of my art? I am very satisfied with my work.

And this one I called 'Good Things are going to happen'. This is also canvas 24*30 cm. On this one I used paper from a old book and some pieces from a cardboard Box, acrylic Paint, and some stencils and rubberstamps.

And just because I've used so much pattern and gorgeous textures on this canvas I will try my luck  over at Mixed Media World, for this Challenge http://mixedmediaworld.blogspot.no/2015/08/mmw6-gorgeous-textures.html - MMW'#6: Gorgeous Textures, With my 'Good Things are going to happen' (I do hope so anyway).

There is a lot more bright colour in both canvases, but unfortunately it don't appear on the photo. They looks better in live :-)

Okey, that was it for today; I hope you will leave me a comment and also let me know if you want a tutorial. I will be happy to show you a step by step :-)

Until the next time have a great time and make something beautiful <3
I will soon come back and show you something madness ;-)

FORGLEM MEG EI - step by step

Yesterday I told you I had a bad day. Today I'm feeling a little better. A good night sleep is not to overrated, it can heal almost anything. Also the immense grief you get by getting a serious diagnosis of the doctor..... So when I've told it to My family and also tried to get it from a distance I will tell you about it too.
BUT NOW - lets talk about something much more pleasant; this art journal page of mine, and what I've been using and how I built up this page, okidoki? :-)

This time I'd used my big Dylusions Art Journal

then I use some baby wipe and covered the whole page with white gesso

I took a rubber stamps from the beautiful collection En liten hilsen from Rubber Art Dance and stamped Tenker  på deg (thinking of you) sentiment over a old book page

and LOVE from the Arty Hearty collection of Rubber Art Stamps

then I took the heart rubber stamps from Arty Heart Collection of Rubber Art Stamps and stamp some heart over an old book page

with my scissor I cut out the  different peaces in squares and use Matt Gel Medium to glue them down  to my page

I mixed white gesso with some water and brushed the page with gessowash

I used a old stencil, unsure which brand and smeared some Modeling Paste with my sparkel here and there on my page

Then I took my  gelatos and colored the page using my fingers

I took the Rubber Art Dance Stamp from the Artsy Heartsy collection and stamped some more heart on my page

with a ornament Stamp bougth at Panduro Hobby (unknown  name of the stamp) and Archival Brilliance Galaxy Gold Ink Pad I stamped a little here and a little there

THEN, my friend, I find this absolutly specatular flower stamp from the collection called Antique Botanicals of Rubber Art Stamp and  stamp it with Distress Ink. For the leaf I used Distress Ink colour Forest  Moss and embossed it with  Clear Embossing Powder and meltet it with my heat gun

The same  technique i used for the flowers as well. Distress Ink in the colour Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserves, Marmaid Lagoon and Tumbled Glas and embossing them with Clear Embossing Powder. The results became just yammy yammy, don't you agree? :-)

For a frame I glue down Lace around the edge.
Below you see some close-ups of some of the details

I hope you like this journal page and that I gave you a inspiration to make something beautiful. Please give me a comment below,it will be greatly appreciated.

Tomorrow me and  my little sweet family is going by boat to Denmark on vacation. I realy looking forward to it, I just hope its not going to be a storm over the sea... I get very easily seasick.

Hope you have a great summertime! Until we meet again - take care.

Hugs from Niti
